Sixty burns were admitted to Barisal Medical College, and 10 were later transferred to Dhaka
So far, 60 burnt passengers have been admitted to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College in connection with a fire that broke out during the launch of the Abhiyan-10 on the Bishkhali River near Jhalokati on the way to Barguna from Dhaka. As the condition of 10 of them is critical, they have been referred to the Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka.
Barisal Divisional Commissioner Saiful Hasan said on Friday afternoon a 50-member delegation was coming to Barisal from Dhaka to treat burn patients.
The fire broke out during the launch of Abhiyan 10, which was en route to Barguna at around 3am on Thursday. Jhalokati district authorities have so far confirmed the deaths of 35 people. The dead and wounded were residents of various parts of Barguna County. Meanwhile, firefighters and various volunteer organizations have been taking part in the rescue operation this morning. They rescued the injured and injured and sent them to Barisal Medical College.
Saiful Islam, director of Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, said critically ill patients were being evacuated to Dhaka. They continue to treat other patients according to their ability. All the doctors and nurses at the hospital were immediately dispatched to treat the burn patients.
